Our Story

WHO WE ARE & HISTORY

The British East India Company established its historic presence in India in the early 17th Century. Calcutta became the first capital of the British Raj. Other trading communities gradually developed along the coast, creating the other vibrant port cities of Bombay and Madras.

During subsequent years, British and native Indians mingled and married. Their intertwined cultures innovated, prospered and thrived, creating the reputation of India as the Jewel in the Crown of the British Empire.

Bombay Bistros pays tribute to the best in culture and cuisine of England and India, past and present.

We do so in a historic space, once the Caffe Cino- the birthplace of Off-Off Broadway Theater and, much later, the ground breaking restaurant Po. Culinary history, and comraderie, continues their respective journeys here.
